Linden Police gets new station commander

New acting station commander at the Linden Police Station Lt Col Ahmed Zaieed Musthan is working to bring the crime rate down.

Colonel Balaraman Govindasamy, the former station commander of Linden Police served his last day at the station on 6 May.

Col Govindasamy came to Linden Police Station in May last year, replacing the late station commander Colonel Mabalane Mohale. He has now been promoted to Brigadier at the Moroka Police Station in Soweto.

Brig Govindasamy started his career in Gauteng at Meadowlands Police Station in 1994. He then moved to other stations including Vereeniging and he has now done a full circle back to Soweto.

Captain Alex Vermaak of Linden Police said, “We are very proud that the station commander was promoted to the Brigadier rank and from the management side we wish him well and we hope that he will excel in his new position.”

The new acting station commander is Linden’s head of visible policing, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Zaieed Musthan.

He said that the role is very challenging but he is looking forward to it. “I want to make a difference and I am looking forward to bringing the crime rate down,” said Lt Col Musthan.
