Sophiatown Police Station confiscated 10 packets of drugs in a joint stop-and-search operation with private security companies.

The aim was to rid the area of drugs and dangerous weapons.

The station joined forces with Best Secure, ADT, SCP, Beagle Watch and Bosmont Street Patrollers.

 

Along with the drugs, they confiscated three knives and five pairs of scissors. Warrant Officer TJ de Bruyn said they also arrested one person for drug dealing.

He urged the public to help the fight against crime by reporting any criminal activity by phoning the emergency numbers.
