Netcare911 have shed some light on the extent of the Waterval Estate victim’s wounds.
According to Netcare911 media liaison, Nick Dollman, the victim was a 44-year-old man who was stabbed in the upper body several times.
He explained that when Netcare911 initially received the emergency call, the incident was reported as an assault, however, once medics and paramedics arrived on the scene they found the incident to be a stabbing.
Dollman said, “It was a joint effort as Netcare911 treated the patient on the scene and ER24 transported him.
“The victim’s injuries were very serious and he suffered significant blood loss. Due to his injuries and blood loss, advanced life support was administered in the form pain medication and intravenous fluids.
“Our ALS [Advanced Life Support practitioner] went with the patient to the hospital in the ER24 ambulance as the practitioner was needed to administer medication.”
He further confirmed that a suspect was arrested in connection with the stabbing.
The owner of the property where the incident occurred said that the victim was in an intensive care unit in hospital.
“Police are still searching for the weapon used, however, this has not been confirmed by police.”
Northcliff Melville Times is still awaiting comment from Sophiatown Police Station.
