King David Victory Park is making strides in the world of remedial education.

King David marketing manager, Nirvana Rodgers said, “Gone are the days where children would have to move schools if their children require remedial education.”

Rodgers explained that the school named Ariel noticed the trend and the need for remedial education and wasted no time in meeting the need. The school completed the school in record time – six months from when the agreement was reached to open the school last year.

According to Rodgers, the opening of the new school shows that suggestions do not fall on deaf ears but that it is also a sign of growth.

“What they did was more than build a building, they looked to build lives at Ariel. With a whole new building, a set of staff and new and old learners, the school has already been running like a well-oiled machine.”

While the school has already opened its doors to 35 children, the official opening was held on 15 February.

Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein joked about the opening of Ariel sparking Zextit and Cyril Ramaphosa’s rise as president of the country.

Ariel is a state-of-the-art school and has desks, chairs and other equipment which have been imported from the USA as well as Germany which are proven to be effective for remedial classrooms and education.

The centre boasts a Snoezelen room which stimulates youngsters’ senses and provides soothing sounds, captivating aromas, tactile experiences, massage and vibrating sensations and interesting light effects.

Rodgers explained that King David’s Snoezelen room is one of only two in South Africa. In terms of the remedial school as a whole, it is the first of its kind in the country.

While the remedial school is its own campus on the King David premises, remedial children receive opportunities such as breaks to play with the primary schoolchildren forging friendships for when they leave the remedial school.
