Online entries for the SPAR Women’s Race Joburg will close at midnight on 24 September.
So if you want to be part of Joburg’s most beautiful race, you need to either log onto www.sparjoburgrace.co.za soon or you will have to visit any SPAR, SuperSPAR or KwikSPAR store to fill in an entry form.
The 5km and 10km event will be held at Marks Park Sports Club, Emmarentia, on 7 October.
Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breast cancer support group Reach for Recovery will be the beneficiary again this year.
Entries cost R100 for the 5km fun run/walk and 10km challenge, with a temporary licence for the 10km costing R20.
Late entries (from 4 October) cost R110, with the licence also R20 for the 10km.
The first 16 000 pre-entries will receive one-size-fits-all T-shirts. The first 16 000 finishers will each receive a medal and goodie bag.
Schools with more than 20 pre-entries stand in line to win laptops, school images and flatbed colour print, fax, copy and scan printers.
There are monetary prizes of up to R10 000 for the winners of the 10km challenge in the various divisions.
Also, remember to drop off a pair of unwanted running shoes that are still in good condition to children in need through the ‘Drop a pair and show you care’ campaign.
Shoes can be brought to the race on the day, or delivered beforehand to Caxton Local Media’s offices at 368 Jan Smuts Avenue, Craighall, or 1187 Cornelius Street, corner JG Strijdom, Weltevreden Park.
Details: Caxton Local Media Craighall 011 293 6195; Caxton Local Media Weltevreden Park 011 794 6869.
