A robbery that has been caught on video, showing a victim attempting to stop the suspects in their tracks, is being investigated.
Captain Tintswalo Sibeko from Parkview Police Station said a case was opened and is the investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred on 4 September at around 6pm in Anton van Wouw Street in Roosevelt Park and is being treated as a common robbery.
The video shows the unsuspecting victim in a car entering her driveway when another car drives by, slowly coming to a halt.
Two suspects casually exit the second car and approach the victim’s property.
What happens in the property is not captured by the camera, but the driver of the suspects’ vehicle decide to turn the car around. Mid-turn, the two suspects hastily return, with the victim on their heels.
The video then shows the victim seemingly trying to take control of their car by opening the driver door and grabbing the steering wheel.
“The complainant’s driver’s door was opened and her bag was under the driver’s seat. The suspects did not say anything to the victim they just took her handbag and ran with it to their car,” Sibeko said.
